This website

What we do on this site.

Every page is plain, structured HTML, built to work with a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom and a phone.

  • A skip link, clear landmarks and headings in order, so you can move around a page quickly.
  • Menus, buttons and image viewers work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text colours are chosen to meet AA contrast on both dark and light backgrounds.
  • Every image has a text alternative, or is marked as decorative.
  • Nothing is hidden behind tabs or timed slides. Animation stays small, and stops if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Forms have visible labels, and errors are explained in words, not by colour alone.
  • Pages reflow to fit a phone screen, with no sideways scrolling.

Veyra: Mind Skills Check

Designed so the format never gets in the way.

A result should show how a pupil thinks, not how well they coped with the screen or the language.

  • A tutorial and a practice round before every task.
  • Each task alone on screen, with nothing else to distract.
  • Designed to be culture-fair: the tasks use colour, shape and pictures rather than written words, stories or local knowledge.
  • Each pupil works on their own screen, not in step with the class.
  • No pass or fail, and nothing to revise.
  • Runs on iPad, Windows, Mac and Chromebook, so pupils can use devices they know.
  • Co-designed with over 100 young people and with clinicians.

If a pupil has access needs you want to check, tell us when we set up your first session, and we will talk them through with you.
